THE USA SERIES: CALIFORNIA

20.12.2017

This roadtrip was the best experience I’ve ever had in all my life. You can read about all the other states we visited before California on the blog. After Arizona, we landed in the beautiful Golden state of California. Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed about roadtripping the United States, and this pretty part of the States was definitely on top of my must-see-list. After all the thrilling adventures in the parks with adventurous hikes and buggy rides on the rocks, it was time to hit the city.

Our first stop was Palm Springs. It was very pretty from what we’ve seen so far, but unfortunately we hadn’t had a lot of time here since it was only a pitstop as sleep-over. Our next stop was Joshua Tree. We had the coolest airstream in the middle of the desert. Just the most awesome trailer in the whole universe in my opinion (and totally packed with a rocket theme inside!). While daytime out here was awesome, night time was plain magical (Joshua Tree is a beautiful park to visit, we kept our hikes short at this time because of the heat).  We spent hours outside our trailer (eating take out ribs at first), and later just gazing at the beautiful dark night-sky and all the bright (and falling) stars you could see. It was a magical moment I’ll cherish forever.

Greater Los Angeles area I see you! After our trailer home we made our way to a very nice AirBnB house in LA near The Grove. We continued to chase all the places and spots we wanted to see and do out here with no holding back! Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, The Farmers Market, Hollywood, Walk of Fame. We went to the Warner Bros studios to see so many shows and movies come to life from up close! I loved seeing these sets and the whole movie making vibe! Just to name a few sets we’ve visited: LaLaLand, Pretty Little Liars, the original Friends (Central Perk) set and saw so many show equipment like all the Batman vehicles, Harry Potter wardrobes, Wonder Woman costumes and we even held a real Oscar in our hands. We visited the Smoke house near the studios for a lovely lunch (those steaks and garlic bread were every-thing). And next to all these movie feels, we visited the Griffith Observatory and park and saw the Hollywood sign from up close. We also spent nights at the Melrose Avenue and Sunset Boulevard for some drinks and nightlife.

On one night we felt like celebrating. We both are huge fans of Chefs Table on Netflix. It’s a show about the best chefs in the world and their original, unique and wonderful cuisine. This series has the most beautiful shots and in every episode I’m constantly amazed by the art of food. And boy we love fine food! A while ago we saw an episode about this great and beautiful restaurant with a mozarella-bar. And we’re both big fans of mozarella – like H U G E fans – the restaurant is called Osteria Mozza. Have you seen that episode? We instantly wanted to go after seeing this show! Mozza was the no.1 place we wanted to dine! We soon made our reservations and it was literally the best meal we’ve had in the whole USA trip we did. The best dinner during this West Coast adventure!  The restaurant was beautiful and the service was warm and friendly. I loved it here. We tasted many different courses. From an insanely delicious burrata, mozarealla, antipasti, ravioli and the ultra divine strawberry desert. I can’t wait to come back one day.

Next week I’ll tell you all about the beaches! Santa Monica, Venice and Malibu!
